purchase and consumption are an inseparable part of man’s social actions and play a vital role in allocating resources for the production of various products, their distribution pattern as well as economic, political and social development. if this issue is to be seen from the perspective of consumer behavior, consumption patterns and purchasing are considered a cultural phenomenon to be explained and examined under the broad title of lifestyle. the present article aims at studying the macro strategies in the fields of purchasing behavior and explanation of lifestyle theories dealing with purchasing behavior. using a directional content analysis method, the logic governing consumers’ various purchasing behavior patterns based on lifestyle was extracted following a comprehensive analysis and comparison on them. finally, they were scrutinized and the intrinsic and environmental factors influencing purchasing behavior were explained considering the key role of lifestyle
